Mechanism of Action:
The healing effect of Senna is due to its Anthraquinone (Hydroxy Anthracene) glycosides (especially A&B Sennosides). Sennosides A & B are metabolized by the bacteria in the colon and are converted to active metabolites such as Rhein. Rhein increases the synthesis and secretion of prostaglandins especially PGE2 in the colon which helps defecation. Furthermore, Senna contains Histamine and 5-Hydroxytriptamine (5-HT) that have purgative effects.
Active Ingredients and Components :
SenaGraph syrup is made from standardized dry extract of Senna leaves (Cassia angustifolia L.). Each 100 ml of syrup contains about 200 mg total sennosides as sennosides B.
