  Calendula officinalis accelerates the process of granulation tissue formation which is an important step in re-epithelialization and wound healing. The anti-inflammatory activity of chamomile extract is mainly due to the compounds of matricin (precursor of chamazulene), bisabolol and its oxides, which are the major constituents in the extract.
